Resilient Santa Cruz Storymaps for Adaptation Pathways
Using Storymaps to effectively communicate climate adaptation strategies
Resilient Coast Santa Cruz, an initiative of the City of Santa Cruz, is addressing coastal flooding and erosion at four beaches and four zones along West Cliff Drive. Each area faces unique challenges due to coastal flooding, erosion, and sea level rise. Thus, each area will adapt to climate hazards in unique ways and strategies.
The City of Santa Cruz developed Storymaps to communicate each zone's climate hazards and solutions. This is a great example of how to communicate adaptation issues to the public, using interactive visuals rather than a static document.
