The Fremont Green Challenge, also known as Climate Ready Fremont, encourages residents to shift their habits and everyday activities to more sustainable, climate-friendly alternatives. Over 2,000 households are participating.

Through the online platform, residents can create a profile and log their behavior from a list of actions. The website includes actions spanning from personal transportation, diet, water conservation and more. Users can also join community groups, such as local high schools.

Users also have the option to filter actions by difficulty, upfront cost, time commitment, impact, and if the actions are renter or youth friendly. These filters help residents choose actions that are realistic and sustainable to their everyday lives.

ICLEI USA encourages other local actors to explore the City of Fremont's Green Challenge as an impactful community engagement tool. This platofrm also helps the City crowd-source metrics, such as heat pump uptake within the community.
