The City of Kirkland, WA's Sustainability Master Plan (adopted in 2020)sets environmental goals for the community and identifies 200 actions for the City to take to help the community meet its goals. The plan also includes a decisionmaking worksheet to prioritize actions and maximize impact. This prioritization worksheet (shown on pages 74 and 97) considers each action's impact in:

  • GHG reduction
  • environmental quality
  • community health
  • environmental social justice
  • energy consumption
  • and net cost.

This sustainability plan also exemplifies best practices in visualization, design and implementation planning. The plan also clearly outlines implementation timelines, responsible entities, staff effort, cost savings and co-benefits. This plan can be a useful example for other local actors preparing climate plans who hope to communicate climate actions with clarity and impact.

Lastly, the City publishes annual implementation progress reports and focus area summaries. See these reports at the City's webpage.
